Under a settlement, building owner Steve Ayers received $925,000 toward unpaid rent for a Claim Jumper location, since closed, on the ground floor of the Elks Tower in Downtown Sacramento.

A newly-unveiled appraisal suggests the value of 55 Hawthorne St. has fallen lower than the amount of a loan used to acquire the building more than a decade ago.
