It Is great for sealing the pores of the wood This helps you use less of your finish. We also recommend using a de-waxed shellac if you are gonna use shellac as a sealer. | Knock on Wood Custom

Not kidding, this is actually how you apply shellac. It dries crazy fast. You can't rework it once it's down. If you make a mistake, you can knock it back later once it's dry and just go back over, but you just put a little on at a time and run out your brush. Within about 5 minutes, it's not sticky to the touch anymore. You can keep layering until you get what you want. In this case, if I have light spots, I can keep putting color on just those spots and then feathering them into the darker one

Nothing brings out the beauty of old wood quite like shellac. Everything pops and just looks EXPENSIVE…. Even if it’s covered in old paint splats 😂 And it’s very easy to use. You can buy it in flake form and mix up your own but if you’re using it on more rustic wood the pre mixed cans available at any hardware or big box store will do. It’s only downside is that isn’t not as durable as modern finishes so if you’re concerned about that you can follow these steps and sub in oil based polyurethane
